The House of Shalom is a non-profit based in Brackenham, Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. It was established on 10 November 1991 and acts as an umbrella body for Ikhayalethu Child and Youth Care Centre, founded in 1999, and Siyabonga Shelter, established in 2015. Both bodies are registered and hold level one BBBEE contributor status. The organisation was started by Priscilla (Saras) Govender, who wanted to care for abused and neglected women and children. In 1992 and 1993 she ran a feeding scheme for street children from her private home.
