About
Overgaauw Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, is built on a heritage of winemaking pioneers. The estate was one of the first Cape farms to mature red wines in small, new French oak barrels. In 1979 it produced South Africa's first Bordeaux blend, Tria Corda, and in the early 1980s it was the first South African estate to bottle a single-varietal Merlot. The estate says these achievements helped shape the country's wine industry. Visitors can book a wine tasting, and the team stresses that wine is best experienced rather than described.
